Jane joined Ellis Funk as Of Counsel in 2005 and has practiced law for more than 25 years. She started out as an insurance defense attorney with Drew, Eckl & Farnham, and then served as in-house general counsel for Northbrook Property & Casualty Insurance Company. Approximately 20 years ago, she transitioned into working with individual clients and small business owners, primarily in the probate arena.

Jane works with clients who need to administer an estate, providing legal guidance as well as practical advice throughout the probate process. When someone passes away owning property, their estate needs to be administered through the appropriate probate court, regardless of whether the deceased signed a will. Trustees of existing trusts and those that are created pursuant to the terms of a Will require the type of legal and administrative assistance that Jane provides to clients.

Jane works with business owners during all stages of the life of a business, including the formation of the business entity and the preparation of ownership agreements, corporate governance documents, agreements with third parties, and other business-related documentation.
